Manchester United fans thrilled as 'Adidas confirm Paulo Dybala has joined club' - but not everything is as it seems

Manchester United fans have been sharing a tweet allegedly posted by Adidas confirming Paulo Dybala has signed for the Old Trafford club.

But there is one little problem.

The tweet is in fact a fake, and has been doctored to spark transfer excitement among Red Devils fans hoping to sign a new striker this January.

One tweet, which is being shared online, reads: “New predator, New club, New challange [sic], Welcome Dybala to the theatre of Dreams #PREDATOR”.

Another reads: “New Predator, New club, New challenge, Welcome Dybala To the Theatre of Dreams.”

The fake tweet emerges on the back of Nike accidentally confirming Philippe Coutinho’s move to Barcelona before it had happened.

An advertisement for the Barcelona shop proclaimed: “Philippe Coutinho is ready to light up Camp Nou. Get your 2017/18 FC Barcelona kit with the Magician’s name on it.”

Dybala has been linked with a move to Manchester United in this transfer window, after the club cooled their interest in Antoine Griezmann.
